Samsung BioLogics announced on April 22nd that it recorded 1.2571 trillion KRW in sales and 580.8 billion KRW in operating profit for the first quarter of 2026. Compared to the same period last year, sales increased by 26% and operating profit by 35%. This significant growth was largely due to the full operation of Plants 1-4 and the reflection of some batches deferred from the fourth quarter of last year into the first quarter. Plant 5 has entered its ramp-up phase, and the company maintained its annual sales growth guidance of 15-20%. Although some market assessments this week suggest a “slight stagnation in order momentum,” the key takeaway is that the performance itself marks the highest first-quarter record in the company's history. Simultaneously, global partnership initiatives are advancing, including the finalization of the acquisition of the Rockville plant in the U.S., global collaboration with CEPI, and expansion of open innovation. While the core CDMO business is expanding its profit margins, the company's overseas bases and collaborative network have further strengthened. In particular, with Plant 1 Bio Campus operating at full capacity and Plant 5 commencing operations, Samsung BioLogics is evolving beyond a mere “contract company” into a structure that independently manages a global contract manufacturing infrastructure. When viewed alongside Samsung Bioepis’s ADC new drug entering Phase 1 clinical trials, the group’s overall vision in both “production” and “new drug development” has become clearer in just one quarter. Coinciding with the opening of Bio Korea 2026, this can be considered the biggest headline for K-Bio this week.
